Fix Corrupt Region
MC Region files can be transferred between saves/worlds, versions or deleted and regenerated.
Minecraft’s Regions are stored here;
\Minecraft\GAME_DIR\saves\_YourWorldName_\region
The initial World Spawn Point and default/ first regions generated are;
[Overworld, +/-, and Nether]
r. 0.0 .mca
r. 0.1 .mca
r. 0.-1 .mca
r. -1.0 .mca
r. -1.1 .mca
r. -1.-1 .mca
r. -1.2 .mca
Deleting corrupt regions
Corrupt regions can be deleted (delete the .mca file)
- they will re-generate back to their default state
- Whilst in-game get the Block coordinates for the corrupt area using F3.
Known Issues:
- Usually Villagers/NPCs spawning at villages cause issues, especially near beds
- Boats, Horses and other transport can become corrupt or dissappear.
How to fix your Corrupt region?
- make a backup first, then…
- delete all “.mca” files apart from the 7 default regions listed above.
- reload the game
- Spawn and travel/ Teleport to where the corrupt area was in your backup save
…i.e. your broken village - Quit the game and see which new “.mca” files have been generated.
… these new files are clean versions of the corrupt areas you have in your backup world. (before any changes were made within that area). - Now Add all old “.mca” files to the “\region” folder, BUT…
… leave out the broken mca region file and keep the clean one with no issues. - Cheat commands will have to be used to obtain lost items, experience etc
Notes:
Minecraft does too many checks on tick (multiple/ sec) so it is pointless using commands to kill corrupt entities such as;…
/kill @e[Type=villager]
…BUT! …using the kill command within your broken save file may be useful to gain a little extra time to grab co-ordinates of the broken location (using F3 before a crash)
- these co-ordinates can then be used to on a clean, regenerated world to check the offending area / load a fresh mca region file and then transfer the fixed file to your old broken world.
