Spoof Guide

Spoof Guide

   There are 3 methods to Location Mocking. For now i am considering this guide as “best practices”.

  1. Android Stock Phones    –   <= Android 7.0.1 / Security Patch < March 5th 2017
  2. Rooted Phones –    Any Android, Any OS, safety-net fix and hide apps. Use VMWare for OS 8, 9.
  3. iOS Devices running a payed for app (e.g. i-sp00f3r  )

How to Mock Location:

  1. Apps will work using the correct dated firmware. Best used in a place with bad/ no GPS Signal, inside buildings etc. May require the ‘Tin Foil Trick’, covering GPS area in Aluminium Foil.
  2. App will work on any rooted device when placed as a system file. Users need to hide apps in system to pass safety-net.
  3. iOS users can use a payed-for app, it works on any iOS device.

Device Tips:

  • Get Androids that do not require Rooting to flash roms (Sony/ Samsung)
  • Get an iOS Device and use the payed for app service

Rooting Tips:

  • Rooting: Research the consequences of Rooting before doing it. E.g Sony Devices lose DRM Keys on Root.
  • NOT ALL DEVICES CAN BE ROOTED (I am still unsure if this is true)

Google Tips:

  • Delete and Disable Location History
  • Disable All Gmail and Google Services
  • Disable Location access for services (Instagram, camera etc)
  • Do Not use Adventure-sync

The Tin Foil Trick

Check the hardware layout of your device for the location of the GPS Chip. Covering this area in Aluminium Foil helps block GPS signals, this makes it easier for apps to override.

Avoid a Ban: “what might trigger a ban?”

There is a list of activities to avoid; these may trigger a warning, shadow, soft, temp or total ban. TBH – just try not to take it too far. A Rooted device has a high chance of ban.

Screen Overlays

Screen overlays are detected when POGO initiates, users will not notice this unless they are running a device on Android 6.0 or less. A pop-up message “screen overlay detected” appears when using sub Android 6.0. Apps that use screen overlay access include;

  • Using A Joystick
  • Using IV/ Appraisal tools
  • An app called Install Button Unlocker can be used to prevent this detecion, but i cannot guarantee the safety of this app.
  • Camera apps, and many apps with camera access
  • Google Play Services

IDLE activity & Pokemon on screen during CoolDown

  • Leaving Pokemon on screen to catch later (for 2hrs+) can be a risky move but should be OK when executed on rare occassions.
  • Taking Photos regularly actually helps keep the target locked, preventing it from fleeing after a long period of idle.

Manipulating Time

Try to avoid switching time-zones if the end time overlaps your last time played. E.G playing at 10pm locally, switching to 1am next day to raid, then waiting 2 hrs and playing again at your local time at 12pm(midnight). Other red flag examples may include;

  • 3 Timezones in 1 day?
  • Date Mismatch?
  • crossing dates/ overlapping timezones

Account Activity

  • Multiple account names with 1 GMAIL email?
  • Multiple accounts on 1 Phone?
  • Excessive account switching on 1 phone?

In-Game activity

  • Levelling Up too fast (XP)
  • Spinning too many Pokestops too fast
  • Excessive gameplay 3hrs+ a day/week
  • Player reports
  • Speed of travel

NOTES:

Do not abuse gyms, if users decide to mock locations they should be not be messing with peoples gyms. Play nice or f** off.
